Home South Korea Interviews

Interviews with go players during my korean adventure.

After the interviews with the students of the school, I'd like to offer the point of view of the teachers. This is a chance to understand their feeling of this school and the students, and I think it's very interesting to hear their stories to understand why baduk is part of their life, and their will to teach and spread go around the world. The first one is Hong Seul-Ki (홍슬기), a very strong amateur player, quite famous in Europe, but let's hear his story from his words.

Tungalag, but everybody call her Tungaa, came to KBC some weeks later, and at the beginning it was not too easy to communicate with her because she only knew few english words. Little by little we all tried to talk to her and we began sharing daily life. She got the scholarship so she will stay at KBC for some time. Before the interview, I'd like to thank Ofer Zivony for his cooperation.

Another big go player is Scott, he really likes go and he really wants to learn and teach go. We had many interesting games, but he was ahead lately. He's a funny guy with a very positive self-mockery: we had a lot of fun with his geographical skills and his handicap blitz games with Gabriel. Scott is a hard-working guy, he has a good mind-set and I really think he can give a lot to the go community.

The strongest girl in the school is certainly Klara from Czech Republic. She's very sunny and she likes to have fun, enjoy her life with go and with the people around her. We played few game, she was too strong for me to play with her in the league games, but one evening we played one of the most amazing blitz game I've ever played... She got the scholarship in King's Baduk Center so I hope to see her as a professional player in a few years. Go Klara!

Full of latin power, Pedro is one of best friend I found in South Korea. He is cheerful, smart, and fortunally bad at go just like me: we had memorable and endless games. I also had the chance to know him even better when we travelled around South Korea, and I really have to say that the travel was a great success for his irreplaceable cooperation, so don't miss his interview.
